Artist's Comments

This little piece was inspired by the "In This World" Music video by Moby. Even if you're not a fan of Moby's music, you should at least see the visuals. Its probably on Youtube somewhere.

You can call me emotional if you like, call me a wimp if you must, but I wept when I saw it. There is far too much isolation and apathy in this world, and sometimes things seem hopeless and you feel small and powerless to do anything about it, but failure ought to make us try even harder. Its a metaphor for that seemingly insurmountable distance that separates people, that we can cross the vastness of space and explore the stars but we're unable to bridge the gap between each other. I think its a feeling that a lot of people can relate to these days.

I has been said that even text that's as one directional as television is still a dialogue, as the viewer still responds to what they see, and this is my reply.

I love the right-most alien. I want to squeeze it, and hold it, and feed it cookies.
