This was created for a CG competition. The premise is that this spacecraft has suffered a mechanical failure on re-entry and this junior mechanic must repair the damage before it crashes into the ground below.
Lol buckteeth. Holy carp though... this looks...
Everything is perfect. ;_; wish I could digipaint like that... detail on the spacecraft is wonderful... also yay, fire

98% of deviantART have these stupid "98%" signatures. If you're one of the 2% that don't- ... oh never mind...
Who knows, maybe I would have scored higher in the competition if I'd made her sexy. The buck teeth and the large nose weren't exactly the effect I was originally going for but as I was painting it I thought to myself. "Wait just a minute, whats wrong with that?" So I kept going in that style, as a small homage to all the awesome people who dont have a face like a supermodel.
The fire was the hardest part out of the whole thing. Most of the references I could find of fire were much too billowy and it had to look like it was rushing through the air at a couple hundred miles an hour. I ended up redoing it about six times, which brings me to my next point. All it takes is practice.
